Freshman outside hitter Abrielle Bross had 14 kills on .406 hitting to lead the UCSB women’s team to a 3-1 win over UC San Diego Friday at the Thunderdome in both teams’ Big West opener.

The Gauchos prevailed on game scores of 20-25, 25-14, 25-19, 25-18.

Bross, from South Lake Tahoe, sealed the deal with her 14th kill on match point.

Deni Wilson and Tasia Farmer added 10 kills each. Farmer, a sophomore outside hitter, hit a .476 percentage and added a team-high six blocks.

Grace Kloss had 25 assists and Macall Peed 22 digs.

The Gauchos, 5-8 overall, host UC Irvine at 6 p.m. Saturday in another Big West match.
