The Channel League-champion Dos Pueblos girls golf team kept rollling in the league individual finals on Tuesday at the Alisal Ranch Course in Solvang.
Freshman Sagarika Manian won the individual championship and the Chargers claimed the top three spots to earn berths in the CIF Individual Tournament.
Manian, who led after the first round with a 90, shot a 96 on Tuesday and finished the 36-hole tournament at 186. She finished one shot ahead of teammate Victoria, who was the second-round medalist at 95 and made a hole in one on hole No. 9.
Chelsi Ramirez of the Chargers was third at 196 and Camille Robinson placed sixth to earn first-team all-league honors.
Lompoc freshman Halee Sager of Lompoc (109-97—206) qualified for CIF as the fourth-place finisher.
“It was an extremely successful tournament for our four players, and we have a lot to celebrate,” said DP coach Dan Choi. “Saga and Victoria both put in very gritty performances as they battled with each other for the individual title. Both golfers had to rebound from some tough holes but neither one gave in or gave up.”
The Chargers went crazy when Choi texted the rest of the players after Chen aced the No. 9.
“The crazy thing is that a hole-in-one was one of several team goals we wrote up on the board this year,” said Choi. “I laughed as I wrote it up there, letting them know just how hard they are to come by. As fate should have it, it was our last goal left to accomplish this year and somehow Victoria got it done.”
He said Manian showed a lot of poise and nerve to win the tournament.
Ramirez qualified for the CIF Individual Tournament for the second straight year. The tournament will be held on Oct. 27 at Los Robles Golf Course in Thousand Oaks.
