A fire significantly damaged a large barn and farming equipment south of Orcutt on Saturday afternoon, according to Capt. Daniel Bertucelli of the Santa Barbara County Fire Department.

Crews from the county Fire Department were dispatched at approximately 4:30 p.m. to a structure fire near the intersection of Highway 135 and San Antonio Road East, Bertucelli said.

Firefighters arrived to find the barn engulfed in flames and a large column of black smoke rising into the sky.

The smoke column was visible from around the Santa Maria Valley.

No one was injured in the incident, Bertucelli said.

The huge fire heavily damaged a couple of tractors inside the barn along with irrigation pipe outside the structure, he added.

The cause of the fire remained under investigation Saturday evening.
