Santa Ynez starter Jackson Cloud carried a no-hitter into the seventh inning in a 2-1 win over Pacifica Saturday, the first game of an opening day double-header.

The second game had a different outcome, with the Pirates losing 15-2.

Cloud notched seven strikeouts in the opener, and gave way in the seventh, after giving up his only hit, to reliever Vic Heredia, who struck out two for the save.

Cloud and Owen Hunt each had two hits for the Pirates.

In the second game, JT Padfield and Aiden O’Neill had strong games offensively, with two hits and a run.

“Opening day is special,” Santa Ynez coach Warren Dickey said. “The weather was great. The kids competed and won a tough game in the opener.

“Second game presented us with some challenges. The kids will learn from this and we will move forward.”
