Gregg Hart has served in public office over four separate decades.

Now, the Second District Santa Barbara County Supervisor is looking to make a political jump to Sacramento and serve in the state legislature.

“California is the fifth largest economy in the world,” Hart said. “Being part of the state legislature and having a voice to represent our community in that venue is an extraordinary opportunity.”

Hart has served more 13 years on the Santa Barbara City Council, and is in the final year of his first term on the County Board of Supervisors.

He announced last month that he plans to seek the statewide office representing the 37th State Assembly District.

Last Saturday, Hart locked up 83% of the vote in the California Democratic Party pre-endorsement meeting.
