San Marcos dominated Nordhoff in a Channel League girls lacrosse match on Thursday, rolling to an 18-1 win.
The Royals (6-3,1-0) outshot Nordhoff 33-7 and had 12 players score. Sophomore Ellie Monson led the team with two goals and five assists. It was her personal best for assists in a high school game.
San Marcos had 16 total assists.
“We did not want to put up 20 goals if it was going to be a blowout, so we only scored 1 v 1 from the field one time and then once on a penalty shot,” said coach Paul Ramsey. “It was a mental game for us to be disciplined about it but the girls did a great job with the plan and executed.”
San Marcos sophomore goalie Megan Taylor stopped 83% of the shots she faced.
San Marcos has the week off for spring break and returns to action March 29 against Santa Barbara.
