Transition House Auxiliary reports about $200,000 was raised during the 23rd annual Mad Hatter luncheon at the Rosewood Miramar. The funds will assist the auxiliary in augmenting supportive services and individualized programs that help Transition House clients progress to permanent housing and productive lives.

In keeping with the Mad Hatter-theme of the event on April 14, hats of all shapes and sizes were on display. Winners of the contest for the three best hats were: Scott Seltzer, most humorous; Carolyn Sweet, most beautiful; and Aaron Coon, most creative.

Music was provided by the Cate School Jazz Band, and talks were given by Transition House director Kathleen Baushke and board member Jim Buckley. Andrew Firestone served as the event’s emcee for the eighth year.

Three grand prizes included: a weekend in Denver with two nights at the Crawford Hotel and dinners at award-winning restaurants, won by Calvin Marble; $1,000 worth of gift cards to Bristol Farms, Lazy Acres, Gelson’s, Whole Foods and Trader Joe’s, won by Carol Lisky; and a night at the Rosewood Miramar for two with dinner at Caruso’s, won by K. Romofseky.

In addition to sponsoring and supporting fundraising events, Transition House Auxiliary seeks to heighten community awareness and foster greater understanding of the needs of families in crisis.
