Jonathan Dolan had quite a workout on Sunday at East Beach.

The 20-year-old triathlete from Atascadero entered two Semana Nautica endurance events and won them both.

To start his day, he did the 3-mile ocean swim in under an hour. A couple of hours later in took top honors in the  Swim-Run-Swim-Run-Swim-Run-Swim-Run-Swim event, which consisted of running to each lifeguard tower on the east side of Stearns Wharf and doing a buoy swim and repeating the drill on the return trip to the finish line in front of the Cabrillo Pavilion.

Dolan swam the three miles in 59 minutes 17 seconds and covered the SRSRSRSRS in 26 minutes, 52 seconds.

“Finishing under an hour is super impressive,” said Tony Sholl, the aquatics supervisor for the City of Santa Barbara, said of Dolan’s swim. “That’s the mark that everyone is shooting for.”

He finished in second place in Saturday’s 2-mile swim.

Dolan dominated the field in the run-swim event, which is known as the “stud ironman” in the Junior Lifeguards program. The competitors do about two miles of running and swim around half a mile. Andrew Juliano finished second in 33:21 and Chrissy Faulding was the women’s winner in 34:50.  On Saturday, she was only woman to finish the 5-mile biathlon.

Andrea Bish was the women’s winner of the 3-mile swim at 1:08:14. Her time was good for sixth overall,  just behind her younger brother John.
