From the West Coast to the Midwest, 10 Santa Barbara High baseball alumni have started their 2023 collegiate baseball seasons.
The former players represent all divisions of college baseball.
“The Dons are very proud of these players living out their dream and wish them the best in the 2023 season,” said coach Steve Schuck.
Former SBHS teammates Bryce Warrecker, Derek True and Nick Oakley are off to good starts in Division 1.
Oakley (Class of 2020) is starting at second base for UCSB. In the Gauchos’ first three games, he had a double and a triple and drove in four runs.
Warrecker (Class of 2020) is the Friday starter at Cal Poly. He pitched five innings in a season-opening win over Missouri State, striking out eight and allowing two runs on four hits and a walk.
True (Class of 2019) is a reliever for Cal Poly. He’s made two appearances and struck out seven.

Jack Holland (Class of 22) SBCC: 3 appearances, 4.1 innings, 3 hits, 1 run, 7 Ks, 5 walks
Vince Gamberdella (Class of 22) SBCC: 3 ABs with a hit and a walk
