The conditions for Santa Barbara High’s second non-scoring track & field meet at Peabody Stadium on Wednesday were just like the first: cold, windy and rainy.
“Cold, windy and rainy seems to be the story of our season so far,” cracked Dons coach Olivia Perdices. “Still, glad to compete and always great to have squads like Carpinteria and Santa Ynez with such quality kids and coaches out there.”

The Santa Barbara boys won both relays. The team of Caleb Weigel, Davis Flanagin, Carter Battle and Oliver Andrews won the the 4×100 in 45.66. In the 4×400, Battle, Drew DeLozier, Blaise Snow and Oliver Levine clocked in at 3:48.65.
The relay members also won individual events.
Flanagin won three events, taking the long jump at 20-7, triple jump at 44-2 and 400 meters at 55.02.
Battle added a win in the high jump (5-9), Weigel in the 100 meters (11.60) and Levine in the 800 meters (2:15.39). Oliver Andrews won the shot put (35-8) and was second in the triple jump
The girls also swept the relays, with Addie Hoke, Gianna Stump, Jasmyn Amirfazlian Dennis and Arielle Feinberg capturing the 4×100 (55.52), and the team of London Moro, Mackenna Show, Julianna Aviani and Sierra Gronquist winning the 4×400 (4:27.93).
Feinberg also took the 100 meters at 13.04 and 200 meters at 28.47. Gronquist added a win in the 300-meter hurdles at 53.83 and runner-up finishes in the pole vault at 9-0 and 100-meter hurdles at 18.47.
Moro got a win in the 800 meters (2:42.75), Show claimed the 1600 meters (6:03.39) and Stump captured the triple jump (34-3).
“We had some nice performances from the kids we usually count on, some big breakthroughs and kids coming up in new places,” said Perdices. “Just a positive day all around, with kids truly excited to compete for themselves and even more so for their teammates.”
For Santa Ynez, football standout Daulton Beard won the boys 200 in 23.99 and Gabriela Robles took the girls high jump at 4-6 and the pole vault at 9-6.
