For the second game in a row, the Santa Barbara High baseball team rallied in the seventh inning to beat Ventura in a Channel League rain make-up game on Saturday in Ventura.
The Dons won 5-3 and are 2-0 in league play and 4-4 overall. They beat the Cougars 4-3 win on Friday.
Zane Lee-Paulick hit two doubles and drove in three runs to pace the Dons’ offense. Kai Mault went 3 for 4 and Dane Dawson reached base three times and stole two bases.
“It was another gritty win,” said coach Steve Schuck. “The guys are starting to realize that it is never over until the umpire says to go home. We kept battling and good things happen when you just try to get to the next batter.”
Liam Keithley started on the mound and threw a solid five innings. He gave up one run on one hit, while striking out four.
Tanner Trider entered in the sixth and got the win. He allowed two runs on two hits and a walk.
