Brendon Cekada hit a two-run double in the eighth inning to break a scoreless tie and propel San Marcos to a 2-0 win at Valencia on Thursday.

Five Royals pitcher combined for the shutout. San Marcos has beaten the Vikings twice in three days, holding them to one run. Valencia is now 13-6 and the Royals 12-5 overall.

Caden Hodina started for San Marcos, pitching two innings and striking out three. Erik Perez went three innings, Landon Johnson combined for the sixth inning, with 2/3 and 1/3 respectively, and Darren Orlando pitched the last two innings.

Cekada went 2-for-4 on the day, and Hodina, Dayne Dreste and Patrick Kelly all singled.

The Royals get back to Channel League play on Monday at Oxnard, and then host Pacifica on Tuesday, with a 3:30 p.m. start. San Marcos is 6-1 in league play.
