Carpinteria rallied to tie Hueneme 6-6 in the top of the seventh, but the Vikings pushed across a run in the bottom of the inning to take the Citrus Coast League baseball game, 7-6, on Wednesday.

Carpinteria is 6-6 in league and 7-6 overall. Hueneme is 4-8, 7-11.

Isaac Flores paced the Carpinteria offense, rapping out two doubles, driving in a run and scoring a run.  Beto Martinez was 2 for 3 with a run and an RBI and Matt Muñoz had 2 hits and a run scored.  Judah Torres singled and scored twice as he batted in the 9th position and Jayson Dishion provided a pinch hit and later produced a run on a double steal.

Starting pitcher Joaquin Ramirez lasted four innings and gave up five walks and 12 Viking hits.  Martinez suffered the loss as he limited the Viking attack to two runs on three hits, a walk and a strikeout.

“It was another good baseball game and it was good to see the Warriors claw their way back into the game,” said Carpinteria coach Pat Cooney. “Tough loss at the end but the rest of the game should build confidence that the time and effort in the process is starting to pay off in good play.”

The Warriors and Vikings conclude the 2023 season series at John Calderwood Field in Carpinteria on Friday.

“We walked the Vikings off in extra innings back in February and they returned the favor today.  Our guess is that the next one will be close too,” said Cooney.
