Starting Saturday, the two southbound Highway 101 lanes from Mussel Shoals to Faria Beach in Ventura County will be open, while the two inner bypassing lanes on both sides of the median will be closed for repair work.
The two right northbound lanes will remain open during construction.
On Saturday, April 29, the two right northbound lanes near Faria Beach will be closed intermittently. Additionally, The Seacliff ramps heading southbound and northbound of Highway 101 will both be closed on April 29.
Construction will take place during the night, from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m., Monday through Sunday, with two lanes open in each direction. The project is 60% completed and scheduled to be finished between late 2023 or early 2024.
The closures are part of the U.S. 101 Pavement Rehabilitation Construction Project. According to Caltrans, the project will cover a 4.3-mile stretch of highway between Faria Beach and Mussel Shoals.
The entire project costs $48 million, with a portion of the funding coming from the Road Repair and Accountability Act of 2017.
According to Caltrans, the project will extend the highway life by up to 40 years and increase traffic safety with reflective lane stripes and road markers.
