The Montecito Fire Department will host a community meeting regarding wildfire preparedness, 6 p.m. June 28 in the fellowship hall at El Montecito Presbyterian Church, 1455 East Valley Road, Montecito.

The community is encouraged to attend the meeting to review the Ready! Set! Go! guide and discuss how to implement a wildfire action plan.

Montecito Fire’s wildland specialists will discuss the preparedness actions residents can take to harden their homes, such as creating defensible space, using fire-resilient landscaping, and choosing ember-resistant building materials.

Also on the agenda will be evacuation readiness and current challenges to local evacuation corridors due to ongoing road construction.

Representatives from the California Highway Patrol, Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office, Santa Barbara County Office of Emergency Management, Santa Barbara Police Department and other local public safety agencies will be in attendance to answer questions.

The following local community organizations will also participate in the event and provide preparedness resources:

• American Red Cross of Central California
• Montecito Emergency Response and Recovery Group
• Santa Barbara Equine Assistance and Evacuation Team
• Montecito Trails Foundation
