Santa Ynez Valley Community Outreach and Cloverlane Foundation invite the community to a National Purple Heart Day Celebration join them, 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 5 on the Avenue of Flags in Buellton.

The program will open with the Color Guard by Strategic Space Force Base from Vandenberg, and will feature presentations honoring local Purple Heart and Gold Star families by Buellton Vice Mayor John Sanchez; U.S. Army Capt. Special Forces Chuck Hrehor, ret.; Yeoman Chief Petty Officer Jaculin R. Peterson, ret.; and Vietnam veteran and United States Army Ranger Hall of Fame inductee Ronnie Imel.

Following the program, attendees can enjoy a free barbecue lunch prepared by Santa Ynez Valley Community Outreach.
