A man was taken to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital on Saturday after he was stabbed on Santa Barbara’s Eastside, according to the Santa Barbara Police Department.
At approximately 7 a.m., police officers and other emergency personnel were dispatched to a report of a stabbing near the intersection of North Milpas and East Ortega streets, Santa Barbara police Sgt. Ethan Ragsdale said.
Officers located an adult male with a single stab wound to the chest, Ragdale said.
During the initial investigation, officers learned that some type of verbal altercation occurred between the victim and the suspect or suspects prior to the stabbing.
An AMR ambulance crew transported the victim to the hospital for medical treatment.
The injured man was in stable condition, Ragsdale said a few hours after the stabbing.
The victim’s name, age and hometown were not released.
Officers believe the stabbing is an isolated incident and is not related to gang activity, Ragsdale added.
The investigation into the incident was continuing.
