The Breast Cancer Resource Center of Santa Barbara (BCRC) will present Pink Week, a series of educational webinars focused on health education, awareness and empowerment, Oct. 3-5.
The Pink Lounge Gala will get Pink Week started, Friday, Sept. 29, at Rosewood Miramar Beach. Pink Week and the gala will help raise funds so the BCRC can continue providing essential free services.
Pink Week coincides with National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, an annual campaign to bring awareness of the disease.
On Tuesday, Oct. 3, Dr. Jennifer Kosek, a radiologist with Santa Barbara Radiology Medical Group and honorary chair of Pink Week, will serve as keynote speaker addressing Understanding Breast Imaging.
“Pink Week presenters and collaborators are local health and cancer care professionals who donated their time and expertise,” said Silvana Kelly, BCRC executive director. “Their support allows the BCRC to present these important and informative webinars and raise essential funds for BCRC programs and services.”
Other topics include: Can the Microbiome Contribute to Breast Cancer?, Prevention of Post Operative Nausea and Vomiting in Breast Cancer Surgery Patients, Breast Cancer Related Lymphedema: Detection and Intervention, and Advance Care Planning.
Sessions in Spanish are also planned including: El Regalo Mas Grande de Amor: La Planificación Anticipada de Atención Médica, and Salud Cardiovascular.
