Third District County Supervisor Joan Hartmann invites community members to participate, share insights, and help shape the community’s future during a series of forums focusing on health and safety topics including:

Wildfire prevention and preparedness
Youth safety and violence prevention
Homelessness
Tenant rights and responsibilities

The forums are as follows:

1. Santa Barbara County Fire Safe Council Wildfire Exposition, 10 a.m.-4 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 7 at Lompoc Veterans’ Memorial Building, 100 E. Locust Ave., Lompoc.

Led by the Santa Barbara County Firesafe Council, the exposition will examine wildfire prevention and provide residents with information and resources to protect their homes and communities from the persistent threat of wildfires.

2. Lompoc Self-Healing Communities Kick-Off & Community Gathering, 3-6 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 15 at Dick DeWees Community Center, 1120 W. Ocean Ave., Lompoc.

Led by Creative Cultures Creating Change (C4), the event is dedicated to reducing violence, enhancing youth outcomes, and instigating systemic change within Lompoc. Attendees can participate in conversations and enjoy a communal dinner while contributing to a safer, more vibrant Lompoc.

3. Lompoc Community Forum on Homelessness, 5:30-7 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 25 at Lompoc Veterans’ Memorial Building, 100 E. Locust Ave. Food and child engagement provided.

Hartmann and SB ACT will lead a discussion about homelessness in the Lompoc Valley. Attendees can learn about the strategies being implemented to address the issue and share their thoughts on how, as a community, Lompoc can collaboratively address homelessness.

4. Lompoc and Solvang Tenants – Know Your Rights and Responsibilities

Solvang, 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 2. Location TBD.

Lompoc, 6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 8 at Lompoc Veterans’ Memorial Building, 100 E. Locust Ave.

Hartmann is hosting this session together with the Legal Aid Foundation and others to empower tenants with knowledge about the rights and responsibilities of renters. Whether you are a renter or a landlord, this event will offer valuable insights into tenant rights, responsibilities, and the local housing landscape.
