Sebastian and Francesca Sutch of Cate cross country finished in first place at the Twilight Meet at Lake Casitas on Wednesday.

Both competing in a 3-mile race, Sebastian led the boys field with a time of 15:46 while Francesca came out victorious after finishing in 20:26.

Overall, the boys team finished in second place behind Channel Islands.

“We couldn’t be prouder of the way our teams competed today, ” Cate coach Tim Weir said. “Several of our boys had big PRs including senior Everest Schipper, who finished third overall in 16:42, which is over a minute improvement from last year’s meet.

“Our girls team ran well through the first two miles, but I think the heat and training at this point of the season caught up with our young team”

The Rams will participate in the Dos Pueblos Invite on Oct. 14.

On the girls side, Olivia Sofranko ran a personal best to finish 17th overall.

Along with Sofranko, Carolina Duron-Angeles ran a personal best, finishing in 38th. Overall, the Laguna Blanca girls placed seventh out of 15 teams.
