There were no reports of injuries or damage.

The quake struck at 12:50 p.m. in Los Padres National Forest, about 30 miles east of Santa Barbara, at a depth of about 4 miles.

Two minutes later, USGS data recorded a 3.5-magnitude quake in roughly the same area.

The epicenter appeared to be between Bear Creek Camp in the Topatopa Mountains and the Piedra Blanca Trailhead, at the end of Sespe River Road, also known as Rose Valley Road.
