Applications are being accepted for the LEAD Goleta Academy, which runs Jan. 11-Feb. 15. LEAD stands for Learn, Empower, Advocate and Discuss.
Space is limited for the six-week bilingual class that provides a unique up-close look at how local government works. Participants will learn how the city is run, in a small, intimate setting of 30 participants.
Attendees will develop a deeper understanding of how to get involved in shaping the future of Goleta – whether it’s staying informed, volunteering, applying for a board or commission, or even running for City Council.
The LEAD Goleta Academy takes place 6-8 p.m. Thursdays for six consecutive weeks. Participants must be able to attend all six classes to enroll.
Most classes will be held in City Hall Council Chambers, 130 Cremona Drive with the exception of two classes that will be at Goleta Valley Library and Goleta Community Center. The course ends on Feb. 15 with a celebratory graduation ceremony.
Priority is given to Goleta residents, but is open to any resident of Santa Barbara County. Students are encouraged to apply. Apply here.
This will be the second time LEAD Goleta will be offered in Spanish. To access the application in Spanish, click here.
