Girls Inc. of Carpinteria recently hosted its fourth annual Operation Holiday Cheer, a festive family night designed to bring gifts and holiday spirit to Girls Inc. families facing economic hardships.
Families were treated to presents and dinner and a visit with Santa Claus at the event sponsored by Cox Communications. Started in 2020, Operation Holiday Cheer has been presented by Cox Communications from its inception.
“This occasion is more than just a gift distribution event; it’s about fostering a sense of community and joy during a season that can be financially challenging for many,” said Jamie Collins, executive director Girls Inc. of Carpinteria.
“Cox Communications has been an incredible partner in making Operation Holiday Cheer a reality,” Collins said. “Their commitment to supporting our community has made it possible for us to bring smiles and happiness to the faces of over 105 families every year.”
Operation Holiday Cheer serves a dual purpose, functioning as a means of providing toys and gifts, as well as an opportunity to alleviate the financial strain associated with holiday gift-giving.
The initiative empowers families to focus on what truly matters — spending quality time together during the festive season.
With Cox Communications sponsorship, Girls Inc. of Carpinteria was able to procure some 250 gifts, along with dinner and treats, and family activities.
“This is Cox’s fourth year sponsoring this joy-filled event, and one of our favorite ways to celebrate the holiday season,” said Kirsten McLaughlin, Cox market vice president. “We adore sharing the happiness of the season with the local students, who are committed to their academics, as they shop for gifts for their families.”
