A seven-course, sit-down dinner prepared by notable chefs of the region, paired with award-winning wines and the 2023 Best in Fest craft brew, will be featured at the 10th anniversary Top Chef Yummie Dinner, Friday, May 3 at Rancho de Las Palmas in Moorpark.
Proceeds from the dinner benefit Casa Pacifica, the largest nonprofit provider of children’s and adolescent mental health services in Ventura and Santa Barbara counties.
This year’s theme is Kentucky Derby, with décor and fashion depicting the pageantry of America’s most-watched thoroughbred horse race.
Hosted for the seventh year by the Cassar Family, the reception-style event features a number of Ventura County’s top chefs, all who are previous Yummie Culinary Competition winners from the Casa Pacifica Angels Wine, Food & Brew Festival.
Attendees will enjoy menu items crafted exclusively for the occasion, along with live music, a silent auction, and wines from Summerland Winery and Flying H Wine. Retired Ventura County Sheriff Geoff Dean will serve as this year’s master of ceremonies.
“We couldn’t be more excited to mark the tenth anniversary of the Top Chef Yummie Dinner and celebrate a decade of incredible donor and volunteer support,” said Carrie Hughes, chief development officer at Casa Pacifica.
“This event has evolved over the years into a distinctive and unifying fine dining experience that brings our community together to give hope and a better future to at-risk children, young adults and families,” Hughes said. “We are immensely grateful to our sponsors, guests and our wonderful chefs for their support and the lasting impact it has made on our youth.”
Participating culinary masters include Chef Damien Giliberti, Ox & Ocean; Chef Ali Kenis, Sugar Lab Bake Shop; Chef Nic Manocchio, University Auxiliary Services; Chef Alex Montoya, Water’s Edge, Waterside & Honey Cup; Chef Danielle Saleh, Onyx Bistro; and Jackie Rome, Cocoa Rome Chocolate Company.
