Laguna Blanca boys volleyball celebrated Senior Night with a three-set sweep over Dunn on Thursday, 25-19, 25-13, 25-13.
The Owls began the night by honoring Ganden Walker, Drew Levinson, Cole Murphy, Eka Nayak and Jackson Baltes before cruising to the victory.
“We played smooth volleyball getting contributions throughout the entire roster tonight,” Laguna Blanca coach Tanner Stevens said. “It was a fun night getting to honor our seniors and get a win for them in their final regular season home match.”
Walker had a strong performance for the Owls, leading the team with 11 kills and five aces. Meanwhile, Soren Alldredge’s six blocks sparked the team on their way to the win.
Laguna Blanca (20-3, 8-0 TVL) will take on St. Bonaventure on Tuesday.
San Marcos 3, Rio Mesa 0
The Royals took down the Spartans in sweeping fashion on the road on Thursday, 25-21, 25-21, 25-17.
The outside duo of Mason Rice and Jack Wilson led the way for San Marcos with 12 and 11 kills, respectively.
“We cut down on our serving errors from Tuesday night and played solid,” Royals coach Roger Kuntz said. “Hats off to Rio Mesa who is much improved and will be a solid D5 candidate for a CIF run.”
San Marcos (25-2, 8-1 Channel League) will host Oak Park for a non-league match on Saturday.
St. Bonaventure 3, Cate 0
The Rams were on the losing end of a sweep on Thursday, 25-20, 25-16, 25-20.
Despite the loss, the Cate duo of Lucas Huiner and Oliver Lee collected 22 digs combined on the back row.
Meanwhile, the Rams offense was led by 12 kills from Ben Richmond and seven by Max DeVore. Henry Bouma and Lucian Tann contributed six kills apiece.
“We hung in there every set but just couldn’t get the momentum to swing to our side and get any significant runs,” Rams coach KC Collins said.
Cate will be on the road against Foothill on Tuesday.
