The high school athletics calendar in spring is jam packed year in and year out, with plenty of local athletes shining in a wide range of sports.
This year, these local athletes competed with the best of the best and were rewarded with All-CIF-SS honors.
Girls Lacrosse
It was a big season for lacrosse in town, with several teams reaching the postseason on the boys and girls sides.Â
San Marcos had a great year in girls lacrosse, putting together a perfect league record and capturing the program’s first Channel League title. They also reached the quarterfinals of the CIF-SS Div. 3 playoffs.
As a result, a whopping four Royals were named to the All-CIF Div. 3 Girls Lacrosse team, led by the senior duo of Mia Martinez-Tomatis and Megan Taylor.
Juniors Sadi Adams and Liv Plourde were also members of the All-CIF team.
Meanwhile, senior Riley Pan was the lone representative of the Cate Rams on the All-CIF Div. 3 squad.
Boys Lacrosse
Dos Pueblos was a dominant force in boys lacrosse this season, making program history with their first-ever Channel League title.
The Chargers also ripped off their best postseason run by reaching the CIF-SS Div. 3 Semifinals.
Leading the charge with their impressive individual play was the junior trio of Cal Denier, Dan Finneran and Gus Miller, who were all named to the All-CIF-SS Div. 3 team.
Baseball
On the diamond, three local players from three different schools and divisions were awarded All-CIF honors.
At the CIF-SS Div. 3 level, Channel League champion Santa Barbara High was represented by Zeke Adderley, who got it done on the mound and at the plate for the Dons.
Dos Pueblos’ Jesse Di Maggio graced the All-CIF-SS Div. 4 squad after his dominant offensive season where he set the program record for home runs with 10 and had a batting average of .506.
Rounding out the baseball honorees was Cate junior Quinn Pullen, who was also a dual-threat star for the Rams in CIF-SS Div. 8.
Boys Volleyball
Once again, the local area was ripe with strong volleyball teams and individual talent.
Channel League champion San Marcos’ Mason Rice, a Princeton signee, was awarded a spot on the All-CIF-SS Div. 2 team thanks to his strong play.
Santa Barbara High’s Raglan Kear, who is headed to UCSB in the fall, represented the Dons on the All-CIF-SS Div. 2 squad.
Softball
The final All-CIF-SS team member comes from the San Marcos Royals softball team, which reached the postseason and won their opening-round matchup.
Senior and Notre Dame signee Caitlyn Early played a crucial role in the team’s success, earning her All-CIF-SS Div. 4 honors.
