Max Sandoval is making waves in the youth powerlifting scene, and he’s doing it all out of the Central Coast.

Sandoval is a 12-year-old powerlifter from Buellton who has been competing at the highest of levels since he was 7 years old.

Perhaps the biggest feat of his young career is the latest, as Sandoval was named the 2024 AAU Powerlifting Junior Male National Athlete of the Year.

On top of this, Sandoval was named the 2024 AAU Strength Sports Overall Male National Athlete of the Year.

These honors came as a result of a record-breaking campaign in the past year, as he currently holds 11 of the 13 American and World records in the 181-pound weight class for 10-11-year-old male lifters.

Throughout this year, he broke his own records several times as he skyrocketed onto the national stage.

Sandoval, also a wrestler, will look to continue his stellar athletic career as he grows up and heads into the high school ranks.
