The nonprofit Apples to Zucchini Cooking School is returning to the teaching kitchen and campus at 2300 Garden St., Santa Barbara.
The campus, the former home of St. Anthony’s Seminiary and Garden Street Academy, was sold in June, and all tenants were required to vacate. Santa Barbara Middle School allowed the cooking school to run summer camps at its campus.
“With state-of-the-art facilities and a vibrant garden, this space is designed to foster creativity and hands-on learning in a nurturing environment,” the cooking school said.
Apples to Zucchini Cooking School said its goal is “bringing people together over shared meals by teaching children, teens and adults how to prepare delicious, nutritious, affordable meals made from seasonal and local ingredients.”
“We are so excited to return to our roots and welcome our community back to our beloved campus,” said Nancy Martz, executive director of Apples to Zucchini Cooking School. “This move allows us to expand our offerings and provide a truly immersive culinary experience that combines education, community, and sustainability.”
The school said its curriculum is designed for students of all ages and skill levels, focusing on the fundamentals of cooking while emphasizing the importance of using fresh, locally-sourced ingredients. Classes range from beginner to advanced, with special programs for children, teens, families and adults.
As part of its commitment to making cooking accessible to everyone, the school will also continue its outreach programs, partnering with local organizations to bring cooking education to underserved communities.
