SCAPE’s Art Show and Sale
to Benefit Explore Ecology
Friday September 13th
and Saturday, September 14

The beauty of the Central Coast will be on display at SCAPE’s (Southern California Artists Painting for the Environment) annual juried fall show, Central Coast Reflections, Sept. 13-14 at the Music Academy, 1070 Fairway Road, Santa Barbara.

The event is a benefit for the environmental education nonprofit, Explore Ecology.

Central Coast Reflections opens at 2:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 13 with a catered reception, 5-6:30 p.m.

The show will be open 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, and will feature a painting demonstration by artist Kevin Gleason at noon.

“What excites me about a SCAPE show is seeing the work of so many talented artists gathered in one place,” said Kathy McGill, SCAPE Board president.

“What our members have in common is a passion for art and for the natural world around us, and for sharing that passion through their work. From abstract paintings to more realistic work, I am always blown away by the skill, creativity, and diversity of our members.

“And of course, it is always a thrill and an honor when a collector loves a painting enough to buy it and make it a part of their lives,” she said “This year SCAPE is proud to partner with Explore Ecology, an organization that has a long history of successful community outreach and environmental education programs.”

The juror for this year’s exhibit is Santa Barbara artist Tom Henderson, a member of the Oak Group. Some of his work will also be on display at the show.

“We’re excited to partner with SCAPE for this wonderful event showcasing local artists who are committed to the environment,” said Lindsay Johnson, executive director at Explore Ecology.

“Working with SCAPE is a perfect fit for our aligned missions,” she said. “Every piece of art sold at the show will not only bring beauty to your life, it will also positively impact children in schools throughout the county who benefit from our programming, including Environmental and Watershed Education, School Gardens, Art From Scrap, and the EE Makerspace.”

Exhibit hours are 2:30-7 p.m., Friday, Sept. 13 and 11 a.m.-4 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 14.
