San Marcos girls golf took down Santa Ynez High in a nine-hole match at Alisal River Course on Wednesday.
The Royals ended the day with a team score of 242 on the par 36 course while the Pirates weren’t far behind at 249.
Sadi Adams of San Marcos and Santa Ynez’s Mackenzie Phelan each shot a 43 to share the match’s medalist honors.
Behind Adams, the Royals golfers were Campbell Thayer (47), Mia Rocha (50), Chloe Bellamy (51), Talia Cummings (51) and Simrin Singh (52).
Meanwhile, the rest of the Pirates to compete were Katherine Becerra (49), Sierra Freedman (50), Addison West (50), Kacy Caplan (57) and Savannah Hudley (64).
San Marcos will turn around and host Royal at Sandpiper Golf Course on Thursday.
Lompoc 277, Dos Pueblos 297
The Chargers fell in a non-league matchup against Lompoc at La Purisima Golf Course on Wednesday.
Sagarika Manian put together a strong performance, leading Dos Pueblos with a 42 and medalist honors.
Celeste Alcaraz also had a solid day for the Chargers by shooting a 50. The other Dos Pueblos golfers were Ursula Solodkin (66), Sofia Elena Lara (67), Sonia Melonian (72) and Sophia Morales (73).
“Congratulations to Sagarika for medalist honors on a tough course,” Chargers coach Dan Choi said. “Ursula also deserves a lot of credit for scoring well in her first competitive high school match.
“All golfers know what a mental and physical test it is to play La Purisima and we learned a lot of great lessons on the course today that will continue our growth as a team. I appreciate the fight in our golfers and their positive attitude despite a tough course.”
