After a week of sweltering heat, Santa Barbara will get some relief as temperatures are expected to drop over the weekend, including a chance of light rain on Monday.

Temperatures are expected to drop to the 60s over the weekend with cloudy weather for part of Saturday and most of Sunday, according to the National Weather Service.

“It’s been a bit of gradual shift from Tuesday to Monday,” Bryan Lewis, a meteorologist, told Noozhawk.

Lewis said that the NWS is expecting drizzles or showers instead of heavy rain. The area that he expects to be affected the most is the foothills.

The weather change is expected to affect much of the region with cooler temperatures in Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo, Ventura and Los Angeles counties.

“It’s a nice break from the extreme heat we had,” Lewis said.
