Visit Santa Barbara, destination marketing organization for the Santa Barbara South Coast region, on Nov. 20 presented hotel performance data for October 2024.
The Santa Barbara South Coast hotel occupancy increased 6% in October 2024, compared to October 2023. Hotel occupancy was 74% in October 2024.
The average rate for a Santa Barbara South Coast hotel room in October 2024 was $350 a night, up 3% from the same month last year.
Revenue per available hotel room was $260 in October 2024, increasing 9% compared to the same month last year.
“In October 2024, gross hotel rooms revenue increased by 10%, setting a new October record, while Transient Occupancy Tax (TOT) projections also reached new heights with the city of Santa Barbara at $3.06 million, the city of Goleta at $1.33 million and the county of Santa Barbara at $1.38 million, each showing significant year-over-year growth,” said Kathy Janega-Dykes, president/CEO of Visit Santa Barbara.
“October offered a variety of popular festivals and events that played a role in the South Coast’s hotel performance success, all while the weather remained pleasantly favorable,” she said.
The data referenced is generated by STR, an independent hospitality data analytics company. It includes hotels located in Santa Barbara, Goleta, Montecito, Summerland and unincorporated Santa Barbara County (between Gaviota and Summerland).
Visit Santa Barbara has brought back its locals-only lodging promotion, offering 30% discounts for residents from Goleta to Carpinteria who book overnight trips to the Santa Barbara South Coast. The deals apply to stays through early 2025 at more than a dozen properties.
