One person was killed and two others were critically injured in a three-vehicle crash east of Orcutt on Monday afternoon.
At approximately 2:15 p.m., personnel from the Santa Barbara County Fire Department and other agencies were dispatched to the 2600 block of East Clark Avenue, east of Presquile Road, county Fire Capt. Scott Safechuck said.
Firefighters had to extricate people trapped in the vehicle, Safechuck added.
One patient was pronounced deceased at the scene, Safechuck said.
Two patients with major injuries were transported to Marian Regional Medical Center in an American Medical Response ambulance.
All three patients were in the same vehicle, Safechuck said, adding that occupants in the other two vehicles were not injured.
East Clark Avenue was closed for a time Monday afternoon due to the crash and investigation.
California Highway Patrol officers from the Santa Maria area were investigating the crash.
