A small earthquake shook Isla Vista Monday afternoon, which the U.S. Geological Survey reported as a 2.9-magnitute temblor.
The quake struck 14 kilometers, or 8.6 miles, southeast offshore of Isla Vista at 12:22 p.m., according to the USGS.
Residents in Isla Vista and downtown Santa Barbara reported feeling the quake.
No injuries or damage was reported from the incident.
The incident was small enough in magnitude that no ShakeAlert was triggered.
