Event: Saturday, January 25, 2025 at 12 p.m. noon at La Casa De La Raza, 601 East Montecito St. in Santa Barbara
This is a moment for action. The Immigration Advocacy Collaborative (IAC), invites all stakeholders to join forces with La Casa to reignite our collective commitment to advocacy and support for our immigrant communities.
A Call to Unite. The IAC is calling on community partners, including service organizations, advocacy groups, faith-based organizations, elected officials, and the broader public, to join forces and address this urgent issue. Together, we can protect the most vulnerable children and families, and ensure the continued vitality of our protected-class neighborhoods.
The Immigration Advocacy Collaborative (IAC) is urging community members, organizations, and leaders to come together in response to reports of an
ICE enforcement presence in the Milpas Street corridor. This area, a vibrant and economically sustainable neighborhood home to a majority-minority protected class, has been deeply impacted by the fear and uncertainty caused by these sightings.
The IAC has a long history of advocating for immigrant rights, providing critical support during the last administration through vigils, Know Your Rights workshops, Migrant Rights Emergency Handbook Kits, and collaboration with diverse advocacy groups and faith-based organizations.
These efforts created a network of trust and safety for immigrant families navigating the challenges of federal immigration regulations.
The reported presence of ICE in Milpas Street has sparked widespread fear, disrupting local businesses and jeopardizing the stability of families living in the shadows. These neighborhoods, which have thrived through self-sustainability and resilience during the pandemic, are now at risk of demographic and economic shifts due to the chilling effects of fear-driven revenue loss.
The Immigration Advocacy Collaborative is a trusted leader in advocating for immigrant rights and creating systems of support for vulnerable families. Through education, advocacy, and collaboration, the IAC empowers communities to build resilience and navigate the challenges of immigration enforcement.
