Lise-Lotte MacFarlane
Lise-Lotte MacFarlane was selected by the Native Daughters of the Golden West, Parlor #126 to be ‘Saint Barbara’ on their float in 1980.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Lise-Lotte MacFarlane at age 69 on Jan. 28, 2025.

Born on June 5, 1955, Lise was a hardworking, strong-willed individual. She turned down several marriage proposals and dedicated herself to work, caring for family, pets, and being involved in the Reina Del Mar Parlor.

In her younger days she enjoyed traveling internationally with her mother and brother. Lise’s mother Lotte was a dancer for Fiesta on stage at the Sunken Gardens. The traditional Spanish Shawl Dance was very popular, and occasionally Lise was a backup.

Lise was occasionally cared for by her mother’s parlor sisters in the Native Daughters of the Golden West, Parlor #126. Lise also became a member of this parlor at a very young age. This fraternal organization raises money for charities and every year creates the float and selects a woman from this parlor to depict Saint Barbara for that year, working at many fund-raising events. Lise was honored to be “Saint Barbara” in 1980.

Lise was the bridesmaid at her brother Bill’s wedding to Janie Kuoppala. When their son Joseph was born, she was overjoyed. She loved her nephew like her own child. Every week she would drive all the way to Ojai, to take him to his horseback riding lesson.

Family was everything to her. Years later, she paid for a beautiful wedding for her nephew and his bride. Joseph and Ginny blessed her with three beautiful children that Lise loved and pampered constantly.

There were parties, concerts, Fiesta and holidays that Lise always enjoyed. For Lise, life was full. After college, Lise also worked as a Dental Lab Technician and at the Earl Warren Showgrounds which she found very fulfilling.

She will be greatly missed at all the many events by her parlor sisters.

She was preceded in death by her father William MacFarlane; mother Lotte MacFarlane; and brother William E. MacFarlane.

She is survived by her nephew Joseph, his spouse Ginny, and their children Amy (Zack and grandniece Paloma), Andrew and Aiden; sister-in-law Janie Lee Kuoppala MacFarlane, (Leslie Hagen) Janie’s sister Ellen Kuoppala Thermos (John Thermos); Lise always introduced Ellen as her sister.

Lise was looking forward to meeting Paloma and being invited to Joe’s home in Thousand Oaks.
