Laguna Blanca earned a Tri-Valley League win over Foothill Tech in four sets on Tuesday, 25-22, 24-26, 25-16, 25-18.
“Tonight was a good win for us against a very solid Foothill Tech team,” Owls coach Tanner Stevens said. “We continue to work out the kinks and develop as the season progresses.”
Liam Knezevic paced the Laguna Blanca offense with 18 kills while Tyson Deveze collected 14 kills and eight aces. Meanwhile, Finlay Sutherland turned in a strong night in the middle at the net.
The Owls, now 6-1 overall and 2-0 in league, will take on Dunn in another league matchup on Wednesday.
Santa Barbara High 3, Rio Mesa 0
The Dons earned a three-set sweep of the Spartans on Tuesday, 25-16, 25-20, 25-11.
“ Everyone on the team got a chance to play and contribute tonight,” Santa Barbara High head coach Chad Arneson said. “I was very pleased with how we finished the last game.”
Hayes Costner shined on the outside with nine kills and 11 digs while Luke Zuffelato made his volleyball debut with nine kills out of the middle.
“We’re grateful that Luke wants to play volleyball this season after a memorable basketball season,” Arneson said. “Luke is one of those special athletes that makes our team that much better.”
Alec Hamman tallied five kills while Chase Holdren and Huxley McGetrick dished out 26 and eight assists, respectively.
The Dons (4-0, 2-0 Channel League) will host Oxnard on Thursday.
Malibu 3, Carpinteria High 0
The shorthanded Warriors suffered a three-set sweep to Malibu on Tuesday, 25-8, 25-17, 25-15. Carpinteria had just seven players available due to illness and injuries.
“Despite the setbacks, our team stayed resilient, using the match as a learning experience and refusing to back down,” Carpinteria High head coach Favian Muralles said.
Cole Rowbottom had a strong night at the net with five blocks while Rafael Cintura made several big plays throughout the matchup.
The Warriors will take on Oaks Christian in a non-league matchup on Thursday.
