An emergency project on Highway 1, just north of the Ytias Creek Bridge, will begin Monday, March 24. This project will include excavating and grading, repairing/stabilizing embankments, the construction of a soldier pile wall and paving in response to recent slide activity.
Travelers will encounter one-way reversing traffic control near the Ytias Creek Bridge, 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday through Friday. The public can anticipate a 10-minute delay, as well as reduced shoulders for bike lanes. Delays are not expected to exceed to 10 minutes.
Roadwork will begin with collecting samples of soil and the installation of sensors to monitor the slide. Subsequent work will occur upon completion of design work and the and the procurement of materials.
The shoulders will be temporarily reduced from 8 feet to 4 feet. “Share the Road” signs have been installed.
Contractor for this nearly $5 million project is Security Paving of Westlake Village, California. This project is expected to be complete by early winter 2025.
