The city of Santa Maria wants to hear from the public regarding the proposed allocations and contingencies for Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding for Fiscal Year 2025-26 and review of the Fiscal Year 2025-30 Five-Year Consolidated Plan.

A public hearing will take place at the Tuesday, April 1 City Council meeting, which starts at 5:30 p.m.

During the meeting, the City Council will allocate an additional $37,500 to public services that applied for FY 2025-26 funding. The public hearing is provided both in person and virtually.

The agenda explains the participation process, which can be viewed at www.cityofsantamaria.org/meetings.

Local governments must draft these reports that receive federal funds, such as CDBG. The Drafted Action Plan and Five-Year Consolidated Plan can be viewed online on the city’s website.

Efforts to hear from the public are part of the city’s adopted Citizen Participation Plan, with a 30-day public review comment period from March 28-April 28.

Comments concerning the reports should be directed within this time either during the April 1 City Council meeting or to communityprograms@cityofsantamaria.org.

Following the public hearing and 30-day public review, the FY 2025-26 CDBG Action Plan and FY 2025-30 CDBG Consolidated Plan are expected to be formally adopted at the May 6 City Council meeting and will be submitted to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for final approval.

Finalization of both plans depends on HUD’s release of the CDBG allocation to the City, which has not been issued.
