“I’m proud of our effort tonight on Senior Night,” Bishop Diego head coach Dillan Bennett said. “This group is a big part of why we’ve had success this year. We’re very thankful for their hard work and dedication to the program.
“I’m happy they could end their regular season with a win in front of their family and friends.”
Nick Malesky led the way for the Cardinals with 21 kills, 12 digs and three blocks. Meanwhile, Damien Krautmann added 14 kills, nine digs and two blocks.
On the other side, Tyson Deveze led Laguna Blanca with 24 kills to go along with nine digs. Liam Knezevic finished just behind him with 21 kills and five blocks.
“We battled tonight and left it all on the floor,” Owls head coach Jason Donnelly said. “We are continuing to put ourselves in competitive situations and will learn a lot from tonight.
“Tyson and Liam are seeing a ton of sets and executing at a really high level… We’re excited to see how the playoffs shake out and are looking forward to getting back in the gym to prepare.”
Bishop Diego and Laguna Blanca will both continue their seasons in the CIF-SS playoffs, with brackets being released on Saturday morning.

“This was a nice win for us,” Providence head coach Dan Terry said. “It was great to end the season with a road win and I was really happy to be able to have a good match for our two seniors, Jordan LaBrie and Alex Henin.
“The guys played great tonight, but still left me with some good ideas for us to work on while we wait for the CIF brackets to get announced.”

The Patriots end the season with a 15-9 record and will await a potential playoff spot as a freelance team not competing in a league.
