Two patients were transported to the Marian Regional Medical Center Wednesday night after a pickup truck crashed into a light pole on West Main and Black Road in Santa Maria.

Santa Maria Fire, Santa Barbara County Fire, American Medical Response and law enforcement responded to the crash at 11:51 p.m.

The driver, a male patient, had moderate to major injuries and had to be extricated from the vehicle, said Capt. Scott Safechuck of the Santa Barbara County Fire Department.

The passenger of the vehicle had minor injuries, he added. Both were transported to the hospital.

The eastbound West Main lane was temporarily closed during the emergency response.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
