Three Carpinteria pitchers combined on a one-hitter, and the Warriors celebrated Senior Day by blanking Villanova, 8-0, in a non-league baseball game Saturday at Calderwood Field.
Sam Medel pitched three no-hit innings and struck out six as the starter. He handed the ball to Jonah Hernandez who kept the Wildcats off the scoreboard over the next two innings. Charlotte Cooney pitched the final two frames to complete the shutout.
Gabe Martinez paced the offense with two hits, including a double, a RBI and two runs scored. Shayde Juarez had a double among his two hits, drove in three runs and scored a run. Hernandez added two hits and an RBI.
Senior highlights for the Warriors included a double from Sebastian Cervantes, a RBI single from Kevin Ramirez and a hit and a run scored by Aiden Alcaraz.
“The baseball game was good but the most important aspect of the day was acknowledging the efforts of the seniors from both teams,” said Carpinteria coach Pat Cooney. “The Wildcats honored five seniors while we have six in the class of 2025. Behind each of the seniors is a family and school that cares deeply about each of them. The day belongs to them.”
The Warriors (11-12) complete the regular season on Tuesday at home against Thacher.
