Crews rescued an injured hiker off the Hot Springs Trail above Montecito on Monday afternoon, according to Santa Barbara County Search and Rescue.

A hiker with an ankle injury was reported at 3:42 p.m. about a quarter-mile below the hotel ruins on the Edison catway, said Jason Copus of Santa Barbara County Search and Rescue.

Responders used off-highway vehicles to get to the hiker, who was medically treated at the scene then taken down the trail in a rescue vehicle, Copus said.

American Medical Response took over evaluation and transport to the hospital, he added.

The Montecito Fire Protection District also responded to the trail rescue.
