The Dos Pueblos LL Minors Storm captured the crosstown championship over the Goleta Valley South LL Angels in walk-off fashion, 8-7, on Thursday at Girsh Park.
With the two sides knotted at 7-7 in the bottom of the sixth, Samuel Lee roped an RBI single to score Mason Sanchez and clinch the walk-off win and give his team the crosstown title.
“It was a tight battle all game and the Storm showed resilience and grit in order to pull out the crosstown championship,” Storm manager Chad Sanchez said.
After the Angels jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning, the Storm battled back and grabbed their first lead with a five-run third inning, thanks in part to a two-run double by Sanchez to go up 7-4.
However, the Angels responded by tying the game up in the top of the sixth on a double by Mason Ceriale, setting the table for Lee’s heroics in the bottom half.
The Storm players include Nolan Smith, Liam Nahar-Moore, Mason Sanchez, Grayson LaForge, Sam Lee, Henry Chapman, Hunter Morris, Camilo Martinez, Luca Parilla, Bradley Erwin, Joaquin Avina and Marco Galicia.
The team is managed by Chad Sanchez with assistant coaches Matt Smith, Joshua LaForge, Derek Moore and Mario Galicia.
The Minor Division is made up of players ages 11 and under.
