A box truck got stuck under the Union Pacific Railroad bridge near Los Patos Way in Santa Barbara Tuesday morning.
Around 7:30 a.m. a truck driver drove into the bridge and temporarily blocked the roadway while a tow truck responded to the scene to remove it.
The low bridge over Highway 101 exit 95, built in 1901, is notorious for getting trucks stuck. It’s 12 feet, 3 inches tall.

A tow truck freed the vehicle and cleared the roadway by 9 a.m., according to emergency dispatch reports.
Railroad train traffic was temporarily halted during the response, according to California Highway Patrol incident reports.

The bridge and the offramp will be removed as part of the Highway 101 project, which is adding a third lane in each direction between Santa Barbara and Carpinteria.
Construction is moving south to north, and recently the Summerland and Padaro segments were recently completed. Work is underway on the Montecito and Santa Barbara sections of the project.
The city of Santa Barbara just finished a roundabout at Los Patos Way and Cabrillo Boulevard, a few blocks from the offramp and bridge.
