One person had to be extricated from a car after a three-vehicle crash west of Santa Maria on Wednesday.
At approximately 5:20 p.m., personnel from the Santa Maria Fire Department, California Highway Patrol and American Medical Response were dispatched to the incident in the 2100 block of West Main Street (also Highway 166).
The three-vehicle crash sent one car into the ditch at the intersection of West Main Street and Black Road.

One person was transported to Marian Regional Medical Center after sustaining moderate injuries, according to emergency dispatch reports.
A CalStar medical helicopter also was dispatched but later was canceled.
A traffic signal was installed at the intersection in September 2024 in an effort to boost safety.
