More than 300 sheep briefly turned Mountain Drive into a makeshift pasture early Tuesday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol’s Santa Barbara office.
The flock wandered away from the pen and took an unexpected detour before officers responded to help the owner guide them back home, the CHP said in a Facebook post.
Photographs shared by the agency show hundreds of sheep on a roadway, causing an unusual traffic jam.
“The grass wasn’t greener on the other side,” the CHP joked, adding that “everyone is baaahck to their normal routine.”
They added, “Just another day in Santa Barbara — where even traffic jams can be fluffy.”
