Central Coast Ocean Adventures, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, has new name: Mystic Ocean Adventures.

The rebranding reflects the organization’s growth and evolving programs, better encapsulating its core identity and values, the nonprofit said.

The name Mystic pays homage to the organization’s tall ship Mystic Whaler, which serves as the heart of its operations and a unique floating classroom.

Mystic Whaler is more than just a vessel; she embodies adventure, discovery, and the enduring spirit of the sea, having hosted countless young people on their ocean journeys,” the organization said.

“This change reflects our continuing commitment to providing immersive and inspiring ocean experiences for all youth,” said Adri Howe, deputy director.

“We believe that the name Mystic Ocean Adventures more accurately captures the essence of our mission: to ignite a passion for learning, foster a deeper understanding of marine ecosystems, and empower the next generation of leaders and ocean stewards,” Howe said.

Founded in 2021 as Central Coast Ocean Adventures, Mystic Ocean Adventures promotes hands-on education, STEAM academic comprehension, environmental stewardship, teamwork, self-confidence, and nautical skills, with a focus on youth through sailing and the sea.

Its educational ship the Mystic Whaler, a 110-foot schooner, offers year-round experiential educational programming to schools, community-based organizations, and the public.
