The Santa Barbara Foresters celebrated Hugs for Cubs Day with a 3-0 victory over the MLB Academy Barons on Saturday at Eddie Mathews Field.

Santa Barbara starter AJ Krodel dominated on the bump, striking out 10 batters in six shutout innings. JD Goodcase and Easton Tumis worked in relief to keep the Barons off the board and secure the win.

After two scoreless frames to begin the game, the Foresters broke through in the third as Easton Moomau drilled a two-run single to left field to give his team a 2-0 lead.

Two more empty innings went by before Santa Barbara rounded out the scoring in the bottom of the sixth as Cole Chamberlain roped an RBI triple to score Brenton Clark and make it 3-0.

From there, the Foresters (20-8) kept the Barons at bay and cruised to the victory to remain atop the CCL South standings.

Santa Barbara will wrap up the weekend at Eddie Mathews Field on Sunday against the San Diego Bombers at 2 p.m.
