Former Dos Pueblos volleyball standout Micah Goss was the leading point scorer for Team USA in pool play at the Rhine-Ruhr World University Games in Germany.

The 6-foot-6 Goss, who in his freshman season at UC Irvine, earned honorable All-American and Big West All-Freshman Team honors as a middle, is playing at the opposite position for the national team.

He posted a team-best of 28 kills and 30 points in a 3-1 victory over Korea, notched 14 points and 11 kills in a 3-0 loss to Italy and had 14 points all on kills in a 3-0 defeat against host Germany.

The U.S. finished third in their pool behind Italy and Germany. They’ll play in a consolation bracket semifinal match against Australia on Tuesday. Will D’Arcy, a teammate of Goss at UC Irvine, plays for the Aussies.
